BEFORE BURNING THE CANDLE
Whether you are about to light a JAR CANDLE OR A PILLAR CANDLE some basic steps should be followed to ensure a beautiful clean burn without smoking or tunneling. Tunneling is where only the wax surrounding the wick melts, a tunnel down the centre of the candle is created wasting redundant wax around the edge. We recommend burning your elume pillar candle and jar candls within 12-18 months of purchase. Over time, the composition of the wax and fragrances can change, if you have not burned the candle within a couple of years of purchase, we do not recommend lighting the candle.
Elume Pillar Candles: First, remove the ELUME label off the pillar candle and place candle on a non-flammable, heat proof dish. Never place pillar candle directly on a surface such as a table, kitchen bench or windowsill. Straighten the wick before lighting.
CANDLE PLACEMENT
Elume Pillar candles and jar candles should be positioned away from anything that can catch on fire, away from children and pets and away from draughts such as windows or air conditioning to avoid smoking. Only light, if candle is always within sight. As candles need oxygen to burn efficiently, we do not recommend using large candles in small rooms like bathrooms. The moisture in a bathroom will affect the burn of the candle.
